Christian Dell
Born in 1893, died in 1974 (Germany)
Christian Dell began his training as an apprentice goldsmith at several institutions and became a prominent figure in the evolution of the functional and minimalist style associated with the Bauhaus movement. He headed the metalwork department at the design school, introducing the concepts of practical and stripped-down design to young designers. Although he is primarily known for his Kaiser Idell collection, his creations also encompass lamps, jewelry, and metal sculptures that skillfully combine utility and artistic expression. In the later years of his career, he focused on the development of early plastics technologies.
The renowned KAISER idell lamp exemplifies Christian Dell's talent for blending simple geometric forms such as spheres, circles, and cylinders with captivating design elements that symbolize modernity.
